Monday, December 8th: 

The Entrance Game:

Groups 1, 2, and 3 have already performed theirs. Group 2 will be allowed to perform their scene again today.

Groups 2, 4, 5 and 6 will perform their scenes today.

Group 1: Jess, George, Zara, Noelia, Alex, Yanira, Chris – 503

George buys a new house, which is haunted by an evil spirit who takes possession of his soul, turning him into her slave.  Later, a family, with an evil stepmom and two surly stepdaughters, moves into the house which is now inhabited by the evil spirt of George.  The evil stepmother is actually the original evil spirit.

Group 2: Ray, Precious, Lorena, Alejandra, Rachel – 502

Alejandra is a “gangsta” who steals the cellphone from Rachel, a lost tourist. Ray, a “blood” pretends to rescue the tourist’s cellphone but actually is stealing it.  He is stopped in his tracks when the mime, Lorena, trips him and puts the cellphone in a “mime box”.

Group 3: Jessica, Jaylan, Anne, Jennifer, Jose – 502

Anne is Ariana Grande who just got nominated for a grammy. She goes into a store to buy a dress to wear for the awards ceremonies. While in the store, she finds the perfect dress; however, it’s already been sold and its owner (Jennifer, who also happens to be a big fan) is picking it up. A huge brawl ensues between the two women, with the security guard (Jessica) siding with the star, and the hapless and depressed sales clerk (Jose) just wanting to be left alone. Back up for the star arrives in the form of Big Shawn, (Jaylan) who is Ariana Grande’s boyfriend, and who is annoyed that he didn’t get nominated for a grammy and his girlfriend did.

Group 4: Joshua, Jasmine, Henry, Sabrina, Michelle, Regina – lobby

Trip to Paris!

Josh, a wealthy and highly successful attorney, takes his fiancé and a group of friends to Paris; however, his fiancé, Jasmine falls for their mutual friend, Henry. Michelle is one of the friends and Regina is their tour guide.

Group 5: Travione, Carter, Jackie, Jenea, Doug – outside

Serial killer on the loose!

A family (Travione, Carter, Jenea and Jackie, the baby) is eating dinner  and watching the news when a story comes on about a serial killer being  loose in the neighborhood, and a description of the man is given – 5 feet tall and between 70 – 100 pounds.  The door bell rings and a guy matching the description (Doug) tells the family that his car just broke down and he would like to come in and make a call. After a few tense moments the family is convinced he is not the killer. Doug calls AAA,  his car is towed, and he leaves. A few minutes later, there is another knock on the door – it’s Doug again –  or so the family thinks! - and  opens the door and lets him in. But it’s not Doug – it’s the real serial killer!

 Group 6: Ronald, Danya, Kyla, Marlyn, Diana – outside

Ronald just dumped Diana during nutrition. Disconsolate, Diana walks into fourth period with her best friend, Danya. Ronald walks in with his new girlfriend, Marlyn, and openly flirts with her. Diana goes insane with jealousy and starts a brawl in class with Kyla, the teacher, trying to restore order.

November 17, 2014 - November 21, 2014 Weekly Agenda

Monday, November 17th: 

Today  groups 1, 3 and 6 will perform their scenes for their guest artist: Adinette, Tessa and John

While groups 1, 3, and 6 are rehearsing for ten minutes, the rest of the class will be divided into new groups to work on sketches:

1.     Bus to New York : Jess, Alex, Ray, Rachel, Joshua, Henry, Carter, Ronald

2.     Elevator: George, Precious, Jessica, Jose, Sabrina, Jackie, Danya,

3.     Taxi: Zara, Chris, Lorena, Jaylan, Jennifer, Michelle, Jenea, Kyla, Diana, Yanira

4.     Genre: Noelia, Alejandra, Anne, Jasmin, Travione, Doug, Marlyn

 Bus Trip: The kids are each playing a different character waiting to get on a bus to New York. One kid can be a no-nonsense ticket taker; another can be an aspiring Broadway actress/actor (always a favorite!); a third can be a runaway or a bank robber running from the law or two kids running away together; and the final one can be an undercover cop posing as a homeless guy to arrest the bank robber or to bring the runaway(s) home. 

Elevator: There are a few people – all VERY STRONG PERSONALITY TYPES or with very specific and/or unusual issues - already in the elevator; other people, with equally strong personalities or issues get on until the elevator is full. Suddenly, the elevator stops and everyone is trapped!

Taxi: Another group or two can be assigned to do "Taxi": Four chairs are set up like a cab with three people in the car - the driver and two passengers.  A fourth person hails the taxi and gets in. The fourth person must make a very strong character choice - she or he can be a rapper, a hick from a small town or a farm, a southern red neck, a Valley chick, a hipster, a criminal running from the law - anything but it must be very strong with an accent or a particular way of talking, or a specific or unusual occupation, or a strange idiosyncrasy such as a twitch. The other people in the taxi take on the character type or idiosyncrasy of the fourth person. When the driver pulls over to pick up a new passenger, the driver, fed up with the craziness,  gets out, everyone slides over, the person sitting next to the driver becomes the new driver and the game starts all over again. I was thinking of assigning about eight people for this to keep the game going for a while. 

Restaurant: A busy restaurant with eccentric staff and customers.

Doug: Owner, waiter and cook. Only guy on the job today.

Anne: Stole sister’s boyfriend but sister doesn’t know it

Jasmin: sister whose boyfriend was stolen; it’s her birthday and she’s getting drunk

Noelia: pregnant mother of the two sisters, never liked the boyfriend

Tavione: boyfriend; asks Alejandra to same restaurant he was supposed to take Jazmine to, but he forgot.

Alejandra: the date of the two-timing boyfriend.

 Started the scene but didn’t finish.

For tomorrow: give scenes more time to work on them and then present on Tuesday.

1.    Zara is a teacher dealing with an obnoxious class on the first day of school.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

1.    Wedding reception where an invited drunk uncle shows up and Dad tells the same lame joke he’s been telling for the past twenty years.

2.    Party where Yanira and Kyla announce that they are taking everyone to Europe; however, Kyla says she can’t go because she has cancer.

3.    Alejandra gets an acceptance letter from a prestigious university; however, she throws the letter away because she knows her family can’t afford it. Turns out that her family has scrimped and saved and does have the money after all.

"Never turn down!"

1.    In a club, Ray tries to encourage Jessica, who’s wheelchair bound, to dance. Lorena and Marlyn are not very supportive.

2.    Ray is trying to sleep the night before a big important dance; however, his obnoxious younger sisters are partying.

1.    Classroom situation where kids are getting their tests back: two kids who cheated, find out they failed and the kid who is certain the teacher has it out for him, gets an unexpected “A”.

Terrorist attack alert. People on plane jittery when nation is on high alert for possible terrorist attack. A terrorist may be on board the plane with them!

6^th group: Jennifer, Joanna, Irene, Kaelyn, Julian

Multiple love triangles: Julian breaks up with Johana, Johanna hooks up with Jennifer, but Jennifer’s ex Kaelin (who is Johanna’s best friend, but Johana doesn’t know she is a lesbian) is furious. When  Kaelyn and Jennifer storm off in a fight, leaving Irene alone with Johana, Irene confesses her love to Johana.

7^th group: When Annie gets back with her abusive boyfriend, her friends try to talk sense to her.

Kate's Group:

Phrase: "I hit the club!"

Scene 1: The kids are standing in line waiting to get into the hottest club in town, but when the bouncer doesn't let two girls in because they don't have i.d.'s - when he's let everyone else in without i.d.'s - the girls beat him up.  After they beat him up, they say,"I hit the club!"

Scene 2: The cheer squad beats the chess club.

Scene 3: Dad literally hits the golf clubs. 

Donna's Group:

Scene 1: Wilbur joins a group of people. He begins to cough badly. Someone tells him, “You’re sick!”

Scene 1: All the girls are talking at a party. Justin Timberlake comes in and says the phrase.

Scene 2: All the girls are talking to a guy whose name is Sexy. When the guy starts talking too much about himself, the girls get annoyed. He leaves and the girls have a change of heart and say, "Bringing Sexy back!" 

Scene 3: There is a world filled with ugly people and the one attractive guy says, in Superman mode, that he is going to save the ugly people.
