August 25, 2014 - August 28, 2014 Agenda for World Theatre Class

Monday, August 25th:

Today we will have as our guest artists: Andy, Donna, Stephanie, and Tessa

Break into groups of six to create three scenes and a phrase.
Your assignment is to decide on a phrase composed of four to seven words. Please, no profanity, no gross or bathroom humor. Let's definitely keep the phrase pg13.

Then, create three scenes with a story and character arc - in other words, a beginning, a middle, and an end - in which the phrase is used.

Make sure that in each of the scenes, the phrase is used in a different way. Let's say, for example, the phrase is "I love you so much!". In the first scene, the phrase "I love you so much" might be sarcastic because the girl is annoyed with her mother.  In the second scene, the phrase "I love you so much" might be to her dog or cat, and the final scene might be to boyfriend when he does something nice for her.

Each scene should be from two to three minutes long.  You may make each scene different from the others, or you may connect the three scenes using the same characters and developing the story line through the three scenes, with the first scene being the set up (exposition), the second scene being the development (the rising action) and the third scene being the pay off (the climax and the falling action).

You will present these on Thursday.
